There are 3 levels of car Remapping known as Stage 1, 2 and 3. Here’s a short summary of each of these stages.
Stage 1:
A Stage 1 Remap takes the ECU (Engine control unit) parameters in your car to a safe and comfortable level. It essentially optimises your car releasing the potential power as it is without the need for any extra hardware or upgrades.
A Stage 1 remap is best suited for a standard or moderately modified vehicle. Benefits include: Increased power, torque, throttle and fuel savings.
Stage 2:
A Stage 2 Remap builds on Stage 1 creating further increases in power and performance. The basic requirements for a Stage 2 Remap are:
-
Upgraded Intercooler
-
Ungraded air intake
-
Upgraded exhaust system
Stage 3:
A Stage 3 Remap will give you the most power and performance your car can produce. It requires a lot more modifications like turbo, injectors and possible engine internals (forged pistons, conrods and big end bearings).
Stage 3 is mainly for track use or if you are looking to get massive power and performance from your car.
